I was just reading this:

http://alt-universe-me.livejournal.com/13812.html

when it finally, finally dawned on me why I've been so upset with RTD. It' the loss of potential. All those stories we could have seen about Owen, Tosh, Ianto, Jack and Ianto.......gone. Lost. Thrown away. The show could have explored those characters in depth over time and we would have loved them and even loved RTD for giving us the experience. He wasted all of it for dramatic effect and obviously for the chance to move to America. America, where we ruin almost every show we remake and don't even know it unless we are fortunate enough to have somehow seen the British original.

That's another thing, why do you all get to see our shows, but we only get BBC America, which is currently rerunning Star Trek, The Next Generation. Star Trek??? How British is that show, except for Patrick Stewart?

Anyway, I will never forgive RTD, and I will not watch Torchwood Four. I will not risk my emotions being trashed by that man again. So there!!! *smile* And thank the universe for fan fiction. I love me some fan fiction. Yes. Yes, I do.

IAWTC. Except for not watching TW 4 - I know I'll watch, if only to see the train wreck... But it's unlikely that I'll *keep* watching, :(.

It's going to be so. Very. BAD!

My question for it, now and forever is - why should I care about any character that they introduce when they've made it obvious that the only characters with 'immunity' are Jack and (ugh) Gwen? Why should I invest my emotions in anyone knew when they'll likely be dead next week?

I love me some fan fiction, too, :).

I totally agree that it will be very bad, and that he has no compunctions about killing off characters. Character develop is what makes a show interesting for me, without it, it's not really worth my time. RTD does not respect his characters and sees them only as plot points. I'm sorry, but he really is a crap writer.
